Reviews for Crystal Chimney Restaurant
Review highlights
Based on 950 reviewsCrystal Chimney Restaurant is widely recognized for its extensive and diverse Indo-Chinese menu that appeals to a broad range of tastes. Despite its small seating capacity and modest interior, the restaurant consistently earns praise for delivering authentic, flavorful dishes with generous portion sizes. Customers frequently highlight the freshness and quality of ingredients, particularly in seafood and chicken specialties. The establishment is appreciated for its hygienic environment, reasonable pricing, and attentive, friendly service. While the location opposite a busy mall can be slightly inconvenient, it does little to detract from the overall dining experience. This hidden gem remains a popular choice for those seeking genuine Calcutta-style Chinese cuisine in a cozy setting.
A vintage style Chinese eatery in Central serving one of the widest range of Indo - Chinese cuisines. A ground floor kitchen and a small seating capacity on the second floor of barely 24 people. But as small as the seating capacity, the menu was an exact opposite. For the very first time, I was lost in a long and exhaustive menu that was packed with tens of items. Do research from vlogs and blogs to get a recommendation on the must try items. But here's what we tried from the Crystal Chimney. 1. Crushed Burnt Garlic & Pepper fish - A MUST. You'll find this item on every recommendation and it is worth every bite. Thinly fried fillets of fresh Kolkata bhetki tossed off in a Garlic and pepper sauce. Soft fried fish and the burnt garlic flavor is a symphony in your mouth. Rs. 290 for Half (4 pieces) 2. Deep fried Thai Chicken - Deep friend minced chicken balls mixed with herbs and spices. Mixed with lemon added a tangy after taste. Rs. 240 for 6 prices. For the main course most of the recommendations are for Lee fu fried rice and Lap chi kai chicken. Since, the usual recommendations are popular and well reviewed, we decided to try something else for a change. 3. Tsing Hoi Chicken - A gravy style chicken preparation. Standard size chicken accompanied with bell pepper, onion in a sweet honey glazed gravy. Rs. 320 for 8 pieces. 4. Chilli Garlic Mixed Fried Rice - A spicy fried rice prepration with good portions of prawn and chicken. The garlic and pepper with possibly hint of Schezwan sauce gave it a super hot texture with a lingering spicy aftertaste. Rs. 350 for full portion (Serves 2) The choice of main course was such so the spicy garlic fried rice compliments with the honey sweetness of the Tsing Hoi chicken. And the combination was a 10/10. The chicken brought down the heat and added the much needed sweetness to the rice enhancing the experience.
The food here is delicious.. affordable, hygienic, plenty of options to choose from... The staff are polite and friendly... I had Sliced Basa with Thai Basil Leaves for starters which was surreal... And for the main course I had Chili Garlic Fried Rice which was filled with egg and chicken, and Lemon Chicken ,the rice was full of flavours and the Lemon Chicken was mouthful... Overall a good experience and I am planning to keep visiting there until I try everything on the menu!!!
One of the best destination in town to try Chinese dishes. A small restaurant just situated opposite of Emall at Chandni Chowk. The seating accomodation is upstairs and bit small but the food quality is top class and the price is very much reasonable. Highly recommended.
Small and underrated, this hidden gem is deserving of 5 stars when it comes to food. Honestly priced, this 18 seater is spanking clean and serves some of the most delicious Calcutta style Chinese. Food in the city. Definitely try the garlic crusted fish. It’s delish.
Located right in front of E-Mall in Chandni Chowk Food tastes delectable and the portion sizes are great One plate of rice or noodles is enough for 2 people Pieces of chicken or fish whatever you choose are big and fresh We tried Lapchi Kai Chicken, Lee Fu Rice and Fish in hot garlic sauce. All items are recommended Service is fast and servers are amiable It's location is the only minus point about it as it's very small and has a very small staircase which not everyone might be able to use
Crystal Chimney. A pretty old restaurant in Central Kolkata. Located near Chandni chowk metro station at Central Avenue. Google reviews are good but I am not satisfied. Let me share my personal experience. I went there earlier ( few years back) and I was quite satisfied. A time tested or a good restaurant's reputation depends on a lot of factors. Like, the taste of foods, the quality and quantity of foods according to the price , ambience and behaviour of staff. But Crystal Chimney at present is lagging in one thing, that is the quantity of foods they are serving is not according to the price . I am very much disappointed with the portion they are serving right now. As the place is quite small, you may have to wait outside in the pavement for your turn in the rush hours. If you are an aged person or if you have knee problems then you may face difficulties climbing the spiral staircase which is very dangerous. In our case it was not a problem although. I have found in their menu card , they are providing you an option in most of their dishes like you can order your food according to your needs . Quarter, half and full portion. We ordered mixed gravy noodles full and boneless chilli chicken full. Waiting period was 20 mins which is acceptable for a good food. But when the food was served I was very surprised and disappointed with the quantity of "full" plate gravy noodles, which was not as per the price . But on the positive side , both the dishes were very tasty. The staff are very cooperative, Hope, they will improve their quantity of foods according to the price they are asking for... ....
It is situated just opposite to Small of Esplanade.Quite a tiny one but worth a try.It specialises in Chinese cuisine. It has a seating arrangement of 15 people and one has to climb to the first floor for seating.I tried:- 1. Chicken Hakka Noodles : 4/5 2. Chilli Chicken: 4/5 3. Schezwan Chicken :5/5 I found the overall food worthy but a bit pricy according to the portion provided. . . . Recommended
